National Associations

National Representation Within a Global Framework

THE ASSOCIATION

The association arose from the need to support and promote the cosmetics industry and all resulting training and further education and to further develop the cosmetics industry worldwide to uniform standards.
standards worldwide.

The World Cosmetics Association is the body that supports the cosmetics industry for the benefit of all the professions integrated into it. Open and transparent for its members, it provides worldwide support, bundled in the worldwide competence centers.

CIFA (World Federation) qualifies the cosmetics industry in every respect globally, networked, competent, open and pioneering. As part of its vision to promote cosmetics globally, the association makes a decisive contribution to consolidating the quality of the cosmetics industry.

The aim is to have national associations on all continents that support members and users at the highest level.

Role of national associations

National associations assume a mediating and coordinating role within the CIFA system between the international level and the respective national structures.

Your responsibilities include, in particular:

  • CIFA's representation at the national level

  • Placing international frameworks in national contexts

  • Promoting quality, education and ethical standards

  • Supporting dialogue between institutions, organizations and partners

Federal principle and national sovereignty

CIFA follows a federal organizational structure.

National associations operate independently within their respective legal and cultural frameworks. At the same time, they are guided by the overarching principles, standards, and governance structures of CIFA.

This interplay enables international comparability while simultaneously preserving national characteristics.

Recognition of national associations

The recognition of a national association is based on clearly defined institutional criteria.

These criteria relate to, among other things:

  • organizational structure and responsibilities

  • Compliance with CIFA's mission, standards, and governance principles

  • Institutional integrity and sustainability

Recognition is not automatic, but rather takes place within the framework of a structured institutional procedure.

Cooperation and international exchange

National associations are part of CIFA's international network.

They contribute to the further development of the global system and promote the exchange of experiences, perspectives and best practices between different countries and regions.
